5 Tips to Recharge Your Metabolism

But what is a fast metabolism, and why is it good? On one hand, people want food to be converted to energy quickly and efficiently instead of it sitting in stubborn areas. Then again, a fast metabolism means that a person eats often, which can’t be good, right? As you can see, there’s a lot of confusion around the topic, so perhaps it’s best to focus on the much clearer concept of returning your body to a healthy metabolism when it’s in a less-than-ideal state. 1. Give reverse dieting a try

A reverse diet involves increasing your caloric intake steadily until you reach the optimal level – matching your body’s energy expenditures. Obviously, there’s little reason for someone with a healthy weight and metabolism to start eating more, so this approach is more of a contrast to traditional diets and a way of reversing any negative effects on metabolism that they’ve had.

2. Build muscle

It is well-known that maintaining an active lifestyle with regular physical exercises stimulates your appetite and encourages the body to process eaten food faster and more efficiently. But when you’re not just maintaining fitness but also building muscle, this really kicks your metabolism into overdrive. High-intensity workouts are the recommended option, with cardio and strength training being especially popular.

For example, constant snacking can boost your caloric intake to a level that’s impossible to quickly burn through. On the other end of the spectrum, eating at irregular times and leaving long gaps between meals can put your body in panic mode, and prompt it to use much of your food for fat storage.
