The Taliban’s information minister, Jabihullah Mujahid, said on Twitter that 33 people, including children, had been killed in an explosion at a mosque in the Imam Shahib district of Kunduz province. Another 43 people were injured in the incident.

“We condemn the attack and offer our condolences to the victims,” he wrote.

Friday’s bombing was the latest in a series of deadly attacks in the Taliban-ruled country. Earlier, there were a series of attacks across the country.

The country’s information minister has called the Kunduz attackers “traitors and evil forces.”

The mosque that was attacked in Kunduz was a popular destination for Sufis. And ISIL has a strong hatred towards Sufis.

However, it was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.

Earlier on Thursday, the militant group ISIL claimed responsibility for two attacks on Shia mosques in Kunduz and Mazar-e-Sharif.
