In an effort to broaden its geographic reach, Air India announced on Wednesday the introduction of new flights linking Mumbai with New York, Paris, and Frankfurt as well as the restart of nonstop service between Delhi and Copenhagen, Milan, and Vienna.

According to a press statement from Air India, “this expansion comes as the airline continues to make headway in boosting its fleet with freshly leased aircraft, as well as the restoration of current aircraft to active service.”

The new Mumbai-New York route will start flying daily to John F. Kennedy International Airport from February 14, 2023. The B777-200LR will be utilised. With the new service, Air India will have 47 non-stop flights per week between India and the US, up from the present daily service from Delhi to John F. Kennedy International Airport and its four flights per week to Newark Liberty Airport.

Beginning on February 1st, there will be four extra weekly flights on the Delhi-Milan route, and from February 18th and March 1st, respectively, there will be three extra weekly flights on the Delhi-Vienna and Delhi-Copenhagen routes.

The airline has also planned three extra weekly flights between Mumbai and Paris in addition to four additional weekly flights between Mumbai and Frankfurt. These routes will be flown by a B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft operated by Air India, which has 238 Economy Class seats and 18 Business Class seats.

In a statement, Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India, said: “Strengthening India’s global network and linking India’s main cities with even more destinations is a crucial component of our five-year transformation strategy, Vihaan.AI.”

The senior official said, “These additional non-stop flights to New York, Milan, Vienna, Copenhagen, Paris, and Frankfurt are only the latest stage in that journey, which will pick up speed as our aircraft fleet grows. We eagerly anticipate receiving visitors and extending to them the gracious Indian hospitality of Air India.
