Whenever we start reading a book based on true stories and real-life events, we usually get astonished, and it becomes hard for us to believe that the book is based on actual events. Some of them include heart-wrenching stories, while others include astonishing and unique stories, and every single one is truly a masterpiece.

Well, due to the stories being out of this world, we find it difficult to believe they are real. In reality, all these books are based on actual events and survival stories that are hard to believe. The authors of these books either gather stories from a person who has been through the events discussed in the book or went through all of them.

Reading these books can bring you a lot of joy, excitement, and lessons. The hobby of reading is, unfortunately, fading away from the younger generation these days, which is a massive, downsize for society. If you are a bookworm or planning to start reading books, consider our recommendations.

Here are some of the selected survival books that are based on true stories for you to enjoy:

1. PLATANIDES: Through the Eye of the Storm

by William Planes

Platanides: Through the Eye of the Storm is a true-life survival storybook by William Planes. This book revolves around the life experiences, troubles, and events faced by a boy named Platinides (William’s father) and his family. They lived in Asia Minor during the beginning of the 20th century. In 1922, Kamal Ataturk ordered the complete genocide of Greeks and Armenians living in Asia Minor.

Since Platanides belonged to a family who was strong followers of Greek orthodox culture, he had to face tremendous difficulties while living there. The unrest and oppression of the forces were too much to bear for everyone living there. The book includes a lot of stories that are genuinely heart-wrenching and devastating. Even after all this oppression, Platanides and his family managed to emerge from the storms of life while living there and escaped the genocide successfully.

All of the devastating events weren’t able to shake the belief and faith of Platanides from his Greek orthodox religion. William Planes tried to make us realize the importance of freedom in today’s United States of America. His goal was to make people realize the importance of all the sacrifices that our forefathers made to ensure a better future for the next generation. The author warned us that if the sacrifices are ignored, then the oppression and genocide might return to steal away the fragile freedom of our beloved nation.

The book revolves around the story of 5 kids who have been through the worst possible situations but fortunately made out alive while defying all the odds of survival. The scenarios and the stories told by the people who went through it and survived are jaw-opening and truly hard to believe. by Lauren Tarshis

I guess the collection of books based on real-life survival events will never end since there are thousands of books written to amaze us. Here is another remarkable yet astonishing book named Nature Attacks, written by Lauren Tarshis.

The book brings us some more stories of kids and children who were unexpectedly stuck in the fiercest of natural disasters but still managed to get out of them miraculously. While reading the book, it will be hard to believe that all of these survival stories are absolutely real. From a kid who was fortunate enough to survive an attack by a horde of ruthless sharks while being alone unexpectedly in 1916 to a nine-year-old kid who survived the flames of the Peshtigo Fire in 1871 (which occurred on the exact day as the Great Chicago Fire), this book’s every word is hard to believe and astonishing to hear. The book includes the story of kids who survived The Deadly Shark Attacks in 1916, the attack of a venomous jellyfish, the eruption of Mount Tambora, and the Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871. All of the stories are equally joyous and unbelievable for the readers of the book.
