An exporter named HM Fashionwear in Dhaka has tried to smuggle Tk 8,16,526 under the guise of exporting garments to Greece. However, the officials of Chittagong Custom House caught this attempt of money laundering. Ahsan Ullah, deputy commissioner of Chittagong Custom House, confirmed the matter on Sunday.

The test found 22,953 pieces of T-shirts, polo shirts, tank tops, shorts, jeans pants and 41,018 pieces of ladies tights as opposed to the announcement. That means 17 thousand 215 pieces have been found extra. The value of which is about eight lakh 18 thousand 428 rupees. The declared price of each piece is দশ 53. The company tries to smuggle this money behind the export of goods. Strict punishment will be taken against the company in accordance with the Customs Act, 1979 and other existing laws.
According to Chittagong Customs sources, HM Fashionware, an exporter from Dhaka, has done LC through Agrani Bank against 22,953 pieces. Mim International in Agrabad area of Chittagong city works as the nominated C&F agent of the company. The consignment was loaded in containers at the depot of Echak Brothers Industries Limited for export to Greece.
