Bangladesh wins against Nepal in Bangabandhu International Rugby Series

Nepal-Bangladesh International Rugby Series has started today at Banani Army Stadium on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary. This series organized by Bangladesh Rugby Federation is the first international competition in the country. Bangladesh started the series with a win. In the first match, the team lost to Nepal by 20-0 points.

Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Nepal twice in the Asian Rugby Tournament outside the country. Even today the victory was supposed. From the beginning, he has won by playing with power. Nepal did not get any attention from the Bangladeshi players.

The first two matches of the three-match series are Rugby Sevens. The second match will be played at the same venue in the afternoon. And tomorrow the third match will be Rugby Fifteen.

Bangladesh has been preparing for this international rugby series for three months. All the players of this team are from Bangladesh Army. Eight members of the Nepal team are from that country’s army.

For the first time any international competition is being organized in the country. Proud to be a part of such a competition, Bangladesh rugby team captain Nadeem Mahmud said, ‘The federation has organized the first international tournament in the name of the father of the nation. I became part of history by winning the first match in this tournament. I feel very good. ‘

Mahmud also wants to ensure the series by winning the next matches. But the fitness of our players is good. Everyone played well throughout the match. I hope to win the next matches and keep the trophy with us.

Kayes Abdullah Al Dalai, President of Asian Rugby Federation has arrived in Dhaka on the occasion of International Rugby Series. The Dalai Lama promised to co-operate so that Bangladesh could organize more such international tournaments, ‘I am very happy to be here. The Asian Rugby Federation has also cooperated with Bangladesh before. This is nothing new for us. We want to do whatever cooperation is needed to organize more international tournaments.

Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan inaugurated the competition. President of Rugby Federation and MP of Dhaka-10 constituency Shafiul Islam was present.
