Pakistan’s new prime minister has been in the cabinet for more than a week after being sworn in. The members of the new cabinet have also been sworn in after much deliberation.

And there PML-N chief Shahbaz Sharif has left enough surprises. His cabinet is now being lit by five women members, which has caused a stir in the Pakistani media. He has placed those five women in important positions in his cabinet. Among them are Sherry Rahman, Hina Rabbani Khar, Sajia Mari, Maryam Aurangzeb and Ayesha Gauss Pasha.

Bilawal Bhutto, son of Benazir Bhutto, chairman of the People’s Party of Pakistan, has not been given any post in the cabinet of Shahbaz Sharif. However, there was speculation in the Pakistani media that Bilal could get an important post in the foreign ministry.

For the time being, Shahbaz Sharif has kept the foreign ministry to himself. Former Foreign Minister and PPP leader Hina Rabbani has been given the charge of State Minister in that ministry.

Diplomatic experts believe that Shahbaz Sharif may appoint Hina’s party chairman, Bilawal, as foreign minister in the future. But before that, he wants to measure the depth of relations with neighboring countries. So for the time being, the state minister has a leader who has experience in this ministry.

Former Pakistan Ambassador to the US Sherry Rahman has also been lauded by Shahbaz Sharif for his important role in the environment. During Imran Khan’s tenure, his party’s Jartaj Gul was in charge of the environment ministry. But he was accused of failing to take care of the ministry. Gul has been in the headlines for saying controversial things about the environment at different times. Opposition parties in Pakistan have stated they will not run in the by-elections.

On the contrary, Sherry’s performance as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States has been praised by her opponents. Experts believe that Shahbaz Sharif has shown his intelligence by making him the Minister of Climate Change this time as well.

Shahbaz Sharif has appointed PML-N leader Maryam Aurangzeb as Information Minister. It is believed that Maryam, who has always been outspoken, will be able to handle her work well.

The other two women in the cabinet are PPP leader Sajia Mari and PML-N’s Ayesha Gauss Pasha. They both became ministers for the first time in Pakistan. Sajia has been given charge of Benazir’s Income Support Program (BISP) and Ayesha has been given the charge of State Minister for Finance.
