• Red Fort: This historic Red Fort was the residence of Mughal Empire for 200 years. It was constructed by Shah Jahan and reflected a mix of Timurid and Persian architecture. Enclosed in red sandstone, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Rashtrapati Bhavan: This is the official house of the Indian President. Located at the western end of Rajpath, this building consists of 340 rooms. It includes offices, reception halls and guest rooms. The presidential gardens (known as Mughal gardens) surround the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
• Qutub Minar: Built by Qutab-ud-din-Aibak, this is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The world’s tallest minaret of 73-metre has 379 spiral steps inside leading to the top. It is surrounded by Quwat-ul-Islam Mosque and Iron Pillar of Delhi.
• Jantar Mantar: Muhammad Shah built this monument in 1724. It comprises the 13 architectural astronomy instruments to study space and time.
• Jama Masjid: Built in the 17^th century, this Mughal architecture has 40m high minarets. This red sandstone mosque has a capacity to shelter 25,000 people.
• Humayun’s Tomb: This tom of Mughal Emperor Humayun is made up of red sandstone in 1572. It was commissioned by Baga Begum and is surrounded by gardens.
• Lotus Temple: Also known as Baha’i House of Worship was built in 1986 costing $10 million. It is noticeable for its lotus shape and is one of the major sites of tourist attractions. This is a religious place but is open to people of all religions.
• Purana Qila: This is a fortress made up of Riverside stone. It comprises a mosque of the 16^th Century and is famous for the Mughal styled Humayun Gate.
• Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: The most prominent Gurudwara of Delhi is a place of worship. A pool of water is found here believed to have healing properties.
• Nizamuddin Dargah: The dome dedicated to Hazrat Nizamuddin is visited by Muslims for offering daily prayers. Vegetarian food is served to everyone.
