Referring to Wagner’s group’s troops, the UK Ministry of Defense said it believed Russia had deployed thousands of mercenaries in eastern Ukraine to take part in the war. Among them are the senior leaders of the organization.

Last week, the Pentagon warned that the Wagner group was continuing its efforts to strengthen its presence in Ukraine.

Earlier this month, U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal that Russia was recruiting Syrian mercenaries to fight in Ukraine.

U.S. officials say Russia is recruiting Syrians skilled in civil war. The purpose is to exploit these Syrian mercenaries in the Ukraine war.

However, US officials did not want to say exactly how many Syrian mercenaries have agreed to join the war in Ukraine on behalf of Russia.

Russia launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24. In the midst of the war, a delegation from Russia and Ukraine is scheduled to take part in peace talks in Istanbul, Turkey today. Delegations from Russia and Ukraine have already arrived in Turkey for this.
