Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DUDC) has directed to conduct ‘Special Combing Operation’ in 6 risky wards of Dhaka South City Corporation. This instruction was given to all concerned including the health department at the regular fortnightly review meeting at Buriganga Hall of Nagar Bhaban on Sunday (May 7) afternoon.

Sheikh Tapas said, “During the monsoon season, Aedes mosquitoes breed and dengue infection increases. Therefore, before the onset of the monsoon season, the Department of Health has identified the six wards as high and medium risk. Will be

Barrister Sheikh Taposh said that it is very difficult to control dengue without public awareness. “In order to control dengue, Aedes mosquito breeding grounds have to be destroyed. Besides, Aedes mosquito breeding grounds can be created not only around the house but also inside the house. “People need to be involved, they need to be made aware, to prevent the spread of mosquitoes.”
According to the pre-monsoon survey conducted by the Department of Health, wards 36, 40 and 45 of the Southern City Corporation have been identified as high and wards 13, 15, 21 and 23 as moderately risky. This special combing operation will be conducted in those wards.
At other times 6 mosquito workers regularly conduct larvicide and 6 mosquito workers conduct adult siding activities. But in this special combing operation, 13 mosquito workers will conduct larvicide in the morning and 13 mosquito workers will conduct adult siding in the afternoon. At this time, the senior officials of the corporation will supervise the activities of this special combing operation.
Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Farid Ahmed, Secretary Akramuzzaman, Acting Chief Health Officer Dr. among others in the fortnightly review meeting. Fazle Shamsul Kabir, Regional Executive Officers, Assistant Health Officers and other senior officials were present.
