Xi Jinping has taken China to a whole different level. China is about to become a superpower.

With over 18.47% of the total world’s population, China is a nation of extremes. The nation is now a global leader in manufacturing and technology due to 40 years of economic growth at a rate of around 10% annually. Six of the world’s megacities are located there, and its economy is currently second only to that of the United States in terms of size (bigger if commerce is included).

In this article, we are going to tell you the facts to help you understand why China is becoming Superpower.

  1. Geographical Location & Size

China, which borders the East China Sea, the South China Sea, and the Yellow Sea, is the fourth-largest country in the world by land area. It is located in East Central Asia. China’s geographical range includes the northern temperate zone, the tropics in the south, well-watered and fertile plains in the east, immense deserts, and the tallest mountains in the world in the west.

Due to its strategic location, China has access to numerous other countries’ maritime borders as well as international trade routes to Europe and the Americas. China also shares borders with Russia, a powerful ally, to the north and northwest.

  1. Chinese tourists are boosting the expansion of international tourism

Chinese people love traveling, and they travel a lot. But due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, International and National Chinese tourism declined in 2020-21 because of travel restrictions and the outbreak.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, China was one of the largest outbound travel markets. Over 160 million Chinese tourists traveled abroad for vacations in 2019. This growth is over 6% per year.

In 2017, overseas purchases by Chinese visitors totaled $250 Billion. Therefore, Chinese people know everything about the world because they have gathered knowledge by traveling to each country. It is helping the government to know what other countries have and what they do not have, and as we all know China specializes in manufacturing products.

  1. The gender gap is narrowing in China, but it still needs some more gap

The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap report comes out every year, ranking countries on the basis of how much gender gap is there in each country. So, China came in at 102 out of 149 nations, showing that progress toward gender parity stagnated in 2022.

But the percentage of women in parliament is improved, and the gender gaps in professional and technical roles as well as women’s tertiary enrollment, have been completely closed.

  1. Military Power

As you know, China last fought a war against Vietnam in 1979, and since then, there have been significant changes in the Chinese military. It has rearmed and acquired many of the missile and stealth technology necessary to become a superpower in the 21st century. It currently spends more than 3 times as much on defense as Russia and is narrowing a still sizable gap with the United States. Chinese capabilities close to home have already altered U.S. calculations in the disputed South China Sea as well as for any potential conflict over Taiwan.

  1. China is a global leader in both emissions and renewable energy

Despite popular belief, China built more solar and wind electricity generating capacity than any other country in 2018. It is also the largest producer of solar energy in 2022, with a whopping 340 GW. More than 30.88 GW of Solar PV systems were deployed in the first 6 months of 2022.

China is home to 3 of the top 5 largest floating solar farms in the world. According to the International Energy Agency, by 2040, the typical Chinese household’s electricity consumption will double.

Conclusion

The burden will increase as China expands its influence around the world. Despite the country’s substantial financial resources, internal economic and financial issues exist, and if they worsen, President Xi Jinping’s aspirations may be endangered.

China will undoubtedly rank among the top powers in the World and have a significant impact on how the 21st century is shaped. But it will be interesting to see if it overtakes the U.S. or not.
