Gorakhpur tragedy: UP CM Adityanath orders criminal action against hospital, gas firm

The upper committee found the senior IAS officer guilty of not paying the oxygen vendor on time, who purportedly discontinued supplies, causing problems at the ICU and the pediatrics ward at the hospital. Over 60 children died between August 7 and 11 at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College, a referral hospital in Gorakhpur.

While asking for the dead children of Gorakhpur – why, nothing does happen, in fact it keeps on happening, all the time. Indeed, it might almost be said to be the defining characteristic of our time that, irrespective of what happens – Rohith Vemula, Mohammed Akhlaq, Pehlu Khan, Junaid Khan, Kunan Poshpora, Una, Bhagalpur – nothing happens.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath late on Wednesday directed criminal action against the former principal of Baba Raghav Das medical college, Rajeev Mishra, and the private agency supplying it liquid oxygen, Pushpa Sale.
