Former South African captain and former CSA director of cricket Graeme Smith has been acquitted of racism charges. The board said no charges had been proved against him after two investigations.

The investigation found no evidence of racist discrimination against Smith in 2012-14 with Thami Solekil. Allegations that Smith took positions against blacks and influenced decisions during his CSA leadership have not been substantiated. There were also allegations against Smith that the appointment of Mark Boucher as head coach of the Proteas in place of Enco Enquay in 2019 was based on racism. This has not been proven.

Incidentally, a 235-page report by the SJN Commission in December last year accused Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher and AB de Villiers of racism. It is said that when he was the captain, Smith preferred the whites to the black cricketers in the South African team.
