The challenge that healthcare providers should deal with is how to protect patient information online. The two-factor authentication method works to hide away patients’ data from hackers. Advanced firewalls can also provide adequate encryption. If medical organizations adopt these techniques and others, their patient data will be safer.

Many patients want telehealth service

During the Covid-19 pandemic, patients’ preferences have shifted to telehealth. We have more and more people willing to receive medical help online. Telehealth is a trend that became more popular in 2020 and will continue to grow. It helped to limit the transmission rate of the Coronavirus. But it has no regulation like the physical world healthcare sector.

In third-world countries, some patients stay perpetually in the hospital because of a lack of money for medical bills. They get well but continue to stay in the hospital because it won’t discharge them without paying first. 

Sometimes the delay in paying has nothing to do with the lack of money. Patients are unable to cope with all the paperwork that some health providers require. The challenge that they have in 2022 is how to provide the most idiot-proof and quick online billing methods. People like to pay for products and services via an app, credit cards, debit cards, eChecks, etc. 

Instant reminders via mobile phones or email can help remind patients that they are getting late with their medical bills. Adopting new technologies will attract extra administrative expenses which will be another challenge. Even with more payment options, hospitals have to ensure that there are no hidden costs in the pricing.

Apart from the above issues, healthcare providers have to put their prices online so people can view them. Those who fear doing this might lose business. Patients want to do price comparisons before determining where to seek medical help. If they understand prices and are visible to the public, no one will feel confused.
