Heavy downpour brings Mumbai to a standstill


Mumbai – After deficient rain all of the last week, Mumbai witnessed non-stop rain with 37mm recorded between Saturday night and Sunday morning at the Santa Cruz weather station. The rain continued in the morning, with inundate impede road and rail traffic.

Due to Heavy rains made the traffic was impressed, and fishers have been asked to not venture into the seas till Wednesday as the winds will be high near the coastline.

The weather department assessed 15.6mm to 64.4mm of rain as ‘moderate,’ 64.5mm to 115.5mm is ‘heavy,’ 115.6mm to 204.4mm is ‘very heavy’ and more than 204.5mm is ‘extreme.’The India Meteorological Department has delivered a warning of intermittent rain with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in the city and its suburbs.Western line trains are deferred, and Police closed Bandra Worli sea link as the climate could go worse than 2005. Maharashtra government has issued orders to all offices to allow their employees to leave early in the wake of Met department’s warning on torrential rains.
