The cyclone is expected to bring light and heavy rains to Orissa, West Bengal and parts of Andhra Pradesh in India from Tuesday. NDTV reported this information quoting the meteorological office.

According to the Indian Meteorological Office, the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a cyclone and is moving north-west at a speed of 18 km per hour. The cyclone is currently located 960 km south-east of Visakhapatnam and 1,020 km south-east of Puri.

It is expected to start raining from Tuesday evening. A yellow alert has been issued in three districts of Orissa and heavy rains are expected in five districts.

Heavy rains are expected in West Bengal on Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rains are expected in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the meteorological office.

Earlier, it was said that Ashani’s influence would not be felt in West Bengal except Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. However, the meteorological office later said that two days of heavy rains are expected in West Bengal.
