 A ball valve is another type of plug valve that controls the flow by rotating like a ball bearing on an axis. It has two or more balls with one open side each and they are usually controlled using an actuator. When the ball valve is open, water flows from one side to the other. If it is closed, then it prevents water flow.- Butterfly Valve: A butterfly valve has an inlet port open into a high area and an outlet port opens into a low area of its body. When the valve is open, liquid flows from the high to low area of its body. When the valve is closed, liquid flows in the opposite way. In order to operate a butterfly valve, adjust a set screw (1) to bring the outlet port (2) into contact with the high area of its body as shown in figure 1:When you release it, water flows from low into the high area of its body and when you extend its stem, water flows in the opposite direction.
