Bingo is a game that has been played for generations, where players all over the world have gathered in their local Bingo halls to grab a piece of the action, with dauber in hand, in preparation to cross off their numbers and potentially call “House”. With the advancement in technology, you can now find bingo games to play online as well as in-person at your local venue, creating an easier and more accessible way for players, where ever they are in the world, to join in the fun.

With this in mind, we wanted to take a look at the rules of Bingo as well as our five-step guide to hosting your very own Bingo party for your friends and family this summer.

How to Play

If you’re going to host a Bingo party this summer, you’re going to need to know the basic rules of gameplay. Each section of your Bingo ticket contains fifteen numbers; five numbers on three rows. When numbers are called out, players must dab off any numbers that are called that match up with those on their ticket. If they make a line, they must call out “Bingo” or “line”.

When the line is checked, the game will move on with the aim to have all fifteen numbers in your box marked off. When this happens, players will either shout “House” or “Bingo”. When the ticket is checked, and all is correct, the prizes for both the line and full house will be awarded.

Time to PARTY!

Here is our five-step guide to hosting your very own Bingo party this summer;

  1. Invitations

To host a Bingo themed party, the first thing you’re going to need to do is set a date and send invites to your friends and family. You could do this in a group text, or go old-school and send out physical invites.

  1. Bingo ball ready

If you’re hosting a Bingo themed party, you’re going to need the equipment – these can usually be found online in most e-stores, as well as down your local shops too. You can also pick up a book of Bingo tickets in some shops on the high street. You could even print off or make your own grids, drawing numbers on ping pong balls or pulling paper out of a hat to add a DIY, budget-friendly element to your gameplay.

Alternatively, you may know someone with a Bingo kit already, so you could always ask to borrow it.

  1. Prizes

Everyone hopes they get the chance to call out “House” so let’s make it worth it – we’re not saying to provide expensive prizes, but why not up the ante and offer a top prize of a box of chocolates, a gift card, or something else you think your guests might like. You could even ask your friends to contribute to the prize pot.

  1. Party food with all the trimmings

Whether you’re someone that likes to show off your artistic flair with a grazing board of delights, or you’re more of a crisps and dip kind of person, make sure there’s something for your guests to graze on. Plus, no party is complete without a drink of something refreshing, especially in the summer sun, so you could add a touch of glam to your Bingo party with a signature slushy or something that will keep spirits high whilst listening for your numbers to be called out.

  1. A winning soundtrack

Of course, no party would be complete without an exceptional playlist, so why not gather a selection of summer hits and play it in the background whilst you call out the balls or turn it up during the game intervals. To get those winning juices flowing, you could always create a playlist comprised of songs with winning inspired lyrics, such as The Winner Takes It All by 70s sensations – ABBA.
