Indian wrestler Kavita Devi breaks stereotypes, wrestles in salwar kameez at WWE wrestling


 

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is very familiar to Indian participants. Kavita Devi, the South Asian Games gold medal winner draws the attention of viewers by wearing Salwar Kameez while fighting, in a full desi style.

The first Indian woman wrestler to fight in WWE was a part of the WWE Dubai tryout. Among the 32 participants, Kavita Devi will be the one competing at the Mae Young Classic tournament the coming month.

The nation has a number of professional wrestlers who have made India proud be it the Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana) to reigning WWE champion, Jinder Mahal.

However, Kavita is the first woman wrestler from Haryana, India to break stereotypes at the Mae Young Classic tournament.  Although she was taken down in the encounter, her wrestling skills and ring costume ‘salwar kameez’ grabbed the attention of wrestling fans.
