Las Vegas has been the centre of gambling in the United States for decades, but the city is more than just a collection of casinos. For the past two decades, resorts have shifted their attention away from gambling to other non-stakes activities, including lodging, dining, and recreation.

This city is slowly losing its position as the top gambling getawayin the world, with other destinations now getting their share of the lime-light from high-roller holiday makers.

Puerto Rico for example recently topped a list of gambling getaways which could be seen as alternatives to Sin City.

With this in mind online UK gambling aggregator British Gambler, have shared their list of reasons why the sparkle of Sin City is starting to fade.

Why a trip to Las Vegas may not be practical for gamblers

It is incredibly costly

Earlier, gamers from all over the world used to converge in Las Vegas because it offered them huge opportunities to indulge in their passion for gaming at an affordable rate. However, over the years, investors poured a massive amount of money into real estate to build magnificent hotels, restaurants, and casinos to cater to the demands of international and domestic gamers and tourists. This has spiked the prices of hotel rooms, food, and all other services.

Here everything costs money (a lot of it), discouraging people with a low budget from considering this place an attractive gambling holiday.

Changing pattern of gambling

The meteoric rise of internet gambling is perhaps the most significant factor that has contributed to the waning attraction of Las Vegas as a gambling-only destination. Numerous gaming platforms offer exciting offers to entice people to indulge in their passion for gambling from the comfort of their homes or on their smartphones on the go.

Not only have internet casinos caused upheaval, but the situation at traditional casinos has also changed. Over a dozen states in the USA now allow some form of gaming, giving Las Vegas stiff competition on the home-front as well as abroad.

The remoteness of Las Vegas

Las Vegas is built in a desert and is relatively remote compared to other popular tourist destinations. This city offers numerous options if you are looking for an exciting gaming getaway. However, it provides a limited option if you combine your gambling interest with sightseeing or visiting some exciting places. The only big city near this place is Los Angeles, which is still quite far away. This limits the option for tourists to visit other places when they come to Las Vegas.

Other options available

Travel and gambling destinations in Europe, Asia, and South America are giving Las Vegas a run for its money. Governments in these places actively support the casinos due to the large amounts of money they bring into the local economy.

Visiting casinos, staying at hotels, and eating out at these places are less expensive than in Las Vegas. Macau, Monte Carlo, Aruba, and other popular gambling destinations provide services that are on par with those offered in Las Vegas but for a fraction of the price.
