Most bank job aspirants in the country look forward to joining the State Bank of India, or SBI. Considering the bank has regularly recruited many thousands of people in the last few years, the students are eagerly waiting for the next recruitment notification. It is only after the announcement that candidates would get a clear idea about the required qualifications, age limit, and similar eligibility criteria.

Tentative Dates

Though the SBI clerk notification for 2022 is yet to come out, candidates can still have a brief idea of the important aspects. Following the trend of the last few years, you can expect the notification to come out somehow in and around April or May this year. If that happens, then the screening exam can take place around June 2022. The date of results for the same, as well as the tentative date for the mains and the results thereafter, is yet to come out.

Vacancy Matters

It might not be possible to anticipate the probable number of vacancies. So you have to wait till the official announcement. However, in the 2021 recruitment, the total vacancy was 4915. This vacancy was not uniform in every state. Also, there were reservations for the exempted categories. Moreover, there was a special recruitment drive for specific areas like Kashmir valley, Dibang Valley, Tawang, Kargil and Leh valley, Mokokchung, Tura and adjoining areas. The total vacancy for this recruitment drive was about 5000. These apart, there were also some backlog vacancies. This can help you have some anticipation regarding the probable vacancy this year.

About Age Relaxation

The SBI clerk notification gives very specific information about the age relaxation that it offers to several exempted categories. The management keeps reservations for Physically challenged (PWD) for general and EWS candidates, as well as a separate reservation for SC and ST candidates. There is also a separate reservation for PWD for OBC candidates. These apart, there is a reservation for SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen, divorced or judicially separated women who have not yet married, as well as widows. The age relaxation for different categories ranges from 5-to 15 years. The official website of the bank would furnish further information.

Exam Pattern-Prelims

For the clerical cadre, the preliminary exams would be held online. Candidates have to appear for questions in three different papers- Reasoning ability, Numerical ability and English language. The 100 marks question paper would consist of 30 questions for the Language section, all carrying one mark. For the reasoning ability and numerical ability portion, there would be 35 questions in each section. Each of the questions carries 1 mark. The screening exam carries negative markings for each wrong answer. Also, there is sectional timing for each subject.

Exam Pattern- Mains

For the Main examination, there too will be sectional timing for each discipline. The subjects include the English language (40! questions for 1 mark each), Reasoning ability and computer awareness (50 questions for 60 marks), General and Financial awareness (50 questions for 50 marks), and quantitative aptitude (50 questions for 50 marks). So the total marks would be 200.
