Amy Pfeffer was born in Orchard Park, NY – and even at an early age, she knew she was destined to work with people. Always a pillar of the community, Amy has helped others in ways that shaped her way to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). This included working at Crisis Services as a hotline operator for suicide prevention and counsel, being a Peer Mentor for the Buffalo and Niagara Falls Veteran Courts, and even helping young children develop their motor skills and passions via OPLL as a tee-ball and softball coach.

Through her experiences, coupled with her 4.0 GPA at Daemen College, it has earned her the coveted Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree – and has made it her life mission to help others improve their mental health.

Who does Amy Pfeffer Help?

Her unique experiences and education are not limited to social work and counseling, as Amy Pfeffer also holds degrees in theology, business administration, and even technology. As a certified PMP (Project Management Professional), she has been trained in various agile and lean methodologies – which give her the insight necessary to utilize her time effectively with her clients. The cause near and dear to Amy’s heart is childhood trauma, as her volunteer experiences in OPLL, Crisis Services and her past clients have given her a detailed look into developmental issues that affect children.

The chief of these therapies is aimed at many issues that are common amongst children and teens, including anxiety, autism, anger management, and abuse. Children are extremely vulnerable as they are shaped by their environment, and the first role models that they have are their parents and older mentors within the family. This is why Amy also helps older adolescents and encourages treatment as a family unit – helping them heal from their past and empowering them with the necessary skills going forward to handle the many things that life throws at us.

The Amy Pfeffer Method

Amy Pfeffer is extremely well-trained in many disciplines and utilizes all the tools available at her disposal to help treat clients and assess their needs. This includes more common and effective elements, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy. Amy also uses less traditional means, such as internal family systems, and her degree in theology makes her well-versed with clients that prefer a more spiritual or religious approach (of course, this is only upon request).

Her patience, unwavering determination to help, and her upbringing have given her the qualities necessary to help others with grievous traumatic events and abuse, such as sex-trafficking survivors and dissociative identity disorders. She primarily works with children, but recognizes that mental health development and counseling are also critical for those that never received it as children – particularly adults that suffered at the hands of narcissistic or physically/sexually abusive parents.

Amy’s approach is client-centric and wants to give everyone full autonomy over their lives.
