At the rally on the capital’s Srinagar Highway, PDM ally Maryam Nawaz, vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), challenged Prime Minister Imran Khan to a no-confidence vote. “I challenge you, on the day of the no-confidence vote, your 162 MNAs (members of the lower house of parliament and the National Assembly) will be on our side,” he said.

In order to oust Imran Khan, at least 162 lawmakers in the National Assembly would have to vote in favor of the no-confidence motion. Miriam pointed out the challenge to Imran.

At the rally, Maryam alleged that Imran Khan was using religion to retain his position. To save himself, the Prime Minister has abandoned his main pillar in Punjab, Chief Minister Usman Bujdar. Addressing Imran Khan, Maryam Nawaz said, “You did not hesitate to throw your most trusted ally into the water to save your power. We have never seen so many ungrateful people in this life. PTI leader Jahangir has also abandoned Tarin. ‘

According to Miriam, it was time to push Imran to the last. This time no one will come to rescue him.

Maryam claims that the Prime Minister has already lost the trust of the people. The recent elections are also giving such an indication. His party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about 15 of the 18 by-elections. Referring to the motion of no-confidence in the National Assembly on Monday, Miriam said, “He has lost confidence in his party in Parliament as well. “Imran Khan has no right to stay at the PM’s residence and decide the fate of the country,” he said.

Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Provincial Council Hamza Shehbaz and Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman were also present at the rally. Coalition leaders left Lahore for Islamabad on Saturday with a convoy of hundreds of people. They arrived in Islamabad last Monday and held a rally.

Opposition leaders at the rally said the first wicket of Imran’s team had fallen. Now it is Imran’s turn to resign. Speaking of the first wicket, they are talking about the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bujdar. Like Prime Minister Imran Khan, a no-confidence motion was moved against Chief Minister Usman Bujdar in the Punjab Provincial Assembly on Monday. Bujdar resigned after the no-confidence motion was raised. He submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, according to the constitutional rules, instead of handing over the resignation letter to the governor, it was handed over to the prime minister.

The National Assembly of Pakistan has 342 members. The motion of no-confidence, which requires the support of six members, was voted on by 161 people last Monday. Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan adjourned the session till 4 pm on Thursday after a no-confidence motion was moved against Imran in Parliament. He announced that the debate on the proposal would begin tomorrow.

Meanwhile, confirming the start of the debate on the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly tomorrow, Pakistan’s Home Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Tuesday that a vote on the no-confidence motion would be held next Sunday. He said this at a press conference in Islamabad yesterday.

At the time, the home minister claimed that reports of a clash between Imran’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and the Pakistan Muslim League-Qaeda Azam (PML-Q) had no basis. While praising the PML-Q’s stance, he said he hoped the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) would also get support from Pakistan. Source: Don, NDTV
