After failing as captain, Jadeja asked Dhoni to take charge again. Thinking about the team, Dhoni also agreed to the proposal. The Chennai Super Kings said in a statement: “MS Dhoni has agreed to take over the captaincy of Chennai for the greater good of the team, so that Jadeja can focus on his game.”
Jadeja has so far scored only 112 runs at an average of 22.40 in 6 matches with the bat in this year’s IPL. He took only 5 wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 8.19. Chennai’s next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. With that match in Pune, Dhoni will return to lead Chennai.
