Preethi Srinivasan was the Captain of the Under-19 Tamil Nadu Women’s cricket team. She has to lead the state team to the National Championships in 1997 at the age of 17. Preethi Srinivasan was a title-holder swimmer. She has won state gold in 50m breaststroke and silver in other events.

She graduated from Upper Merion Area High school, Pennsylvania, the USA in 1997. While in Class XII, Preethi Srinivasan was among the United States of America’s top 2 percent Merit students.

Preethi Srinivasan’s parents are Mr. N. Srinivasan and Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Srinivasan. Due to Preethi’s father had a transferrable job, she got the opportunity to extensively travel and to learn about different cultures and traditions. Preethi’s mother, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Srinivasan is a constant source of encouragement and backing for Preethi Srinivasan.

Accident:

The former cricketer, Preethi Srinivasan, On a college trip to Pondicherry, was involved in a freak accident that left her Paralysed from the neck down. She suffered a spinal cord injury in that accident. After the accident which left her quadriplegic, she got motivated by her mother and she started a foundation named Soul free where she motivated people who are suffering from spinal cord injuries.

Preethi Srinivasan co-founded Soul free, a foundation that champions the causes of restoring, rehabilitating, and re-integrating those suffering legal spinal cord injuries and spreads awareness on its prevention among Indian Youth. Soul free was launched on 07/09/2013.

Soul free is a public charitable trust that focuses to spread awareness about spinal cord injuries and how to prevent them in order to avoid future injuries, to highlight the plight of people living with severe disabilities, especially women, in society, and to encourage a more inclusive society.

The Ultimate goal of Soul free is to create a long-term facility equipped to care for the severely disabled permanently and train them to have productive employment. They set up databases so that persons with spinal cord injuries are in touch with many others who are going through the same troubles by which they can share their ideas, problems, solutions, and have a community support system.

Preethi Srinivasan though met with an accident and left quadriplegic, did not get demotivated or she did not stop her work and instead she was motivated by her mother and started Soul free foundation and motivated people who are demotivated by spinal-cord injuries and give speech to people how to recover from the accident.
