According to the sanctions proposal, the European Union will reduce Russia’s dependence on oil. According to the head of the European Commission, crude oil imports from Russia will be phased out in the next six months. The import of refined oil will be stopped by the end of 2022.
According to the Hungarian government, 85 percent of the country’s fuel oil is imported from Russia. Natural gas imports from Russia account for 75 percent of the demand. The Hungarian prime minister said the embargo would cause “nuclear bomb” damage to the Hungarian economy.
