Rehana Jadun, a resident of Rawalpindi, condemned the unannounced load shedding. Jubayer Ahmed, a resident of Gujranwala, said such load shedding could not be imagined during the holy month of Ramadan.

“I do not understand anything about the situation,” he said. Even 15 days ago, there was no shortage of electricity and diesel.

Officials at Pakistan’s energy department said load shedding was taking place in urban areas for up to 10 hours a day. Besides, load shedding is happening towards the village for 18 hours. As a result, darkness has descended across the country.

It is learned that the country currently generates a total of 16,031 MW of electricity. But the demand is 25 thousand five hundred megawatts. Such a situation has been created due to severe energy crisis and technical reasons.

Pakistan is generating 3,084 MW of electricity from hydropower. Where government thermal power plants are producing only 8 MW. Moreover, the private power generating companies are generating about 9,526 MW of electricity.

On the other hand, the country’s wind power plants are generating 48 megawatts, solar power plants 104 megawatts, biogas plants 141 megawatts and nuclear power plants 3,312 megawatts.
