Whether you’re moving into Orlando Florida or you already live here, there are a number of animals you need to be aware of.

Armadillos

Located in Florida, armadillos are a common pest that can cause damage to your property and home. In addition to damaging your property, armadillos are known to carry a variety of diseases and parasites. These diseases can cause serious health problems, so it’s important to keep them out of your home.

One of the most common diseases carried by armadillos is leprosy. This disease is caused by a bacteria known as Mycobacterium leprae. Leprosy is one of the most stigmatizing diseases, and people can easily develop complications if they don’t get an early diagnosis.

Leprosy is a serious disease that can be spread through contact with the nine-banded armadillo. The nine-banded armadillo is the only species of armadillo that is found in the United States.

Skunks

Currently, there are two types of skunks in Florida, the striped skunk and the spotted skunk. While they may be the same size, the two are very different in terms of appearance and habits.

Skunks are nocturnal animals that usually emerge at dusk to search for food. They are opportunistic scavengers, eating small mammals, eggs, and plants. They are also prone to parasites and diseases.

Striped skunks are found throughout the state. They are typically about 24 to 30 inches long and can weigh up to 10 pounds. They have a long, fluffy tail and a pair of broad white stripes down their back. Their eyes are small and they have poor vision.

They can also carry a variety of harmful bacteria and parasites, which is why it’s important to remove them.

Squirrels

Despite their small size, squirrels are not harmless. They carry diseases like rabies and Lyme disease, and may transfer those diseases to pets and humans.

Squirrels can be found in many places in Florida, including in suburban areas, urban areas, and even in forests. The most common Florida squirrel is the Eastern Gray Squirrel. They are usually grayish brown in color with white undersides.

Fox Squirrels are larger than the gray squirrels, and are also nocturnal. They live in the pinelands statewide. They are often seen at night and are not as common as the Eastern Grey Squirrel.

Gray squirrels are more common in Central Florida. They live in the trees and have a bushy tail. They often feed on nuts and seeds. They can weigh up to 1.5 pounds. They are also able to build a nest in one day.

These bats are found in many different habitats in eastern Florida.
