The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday proclaimed that privacy is a fundamental right because it is intrinsic to the right to life.

“Right to Privacy is an integral part of Right to Life and Personal Liberty guaranteed in Article 21 of the Constitution,” the SC said.

A landmark judgment by the Supreme Court. It must be welcomed as a progressive verdict in favour of individual freedom. #RightToPrivacy, tweets Ashok Gehlot.

Any law, like the Aadhar Act, the Naz foundation verdict on Section 377 or any other law, which seeks to restrict the right to privacy will have to be tested on the touchstone of Article 21. Arvind Kejriwal too tweeted “Thank you SC for this very important judgment”.
