Fall is finally here! The leaves are starting to change color and there’s a chill in the air. This can only mean one thing: it’s time to start getting back into the swing of things after a nice, long summer break. Here are a few tips that can help you ease back into the semester and make the most of your time.

Organize your calendar.

It is of utmost importance to have a system to organize your life while you are in college. With different deadlines for papers and exams, as well as club meetings, interviews, and time spent with friends, it can be difficult to balance everything.

Putting everything on a calendar (online or paper) or using the “Reminders” app on your phone is something I recommend. This is not only for school assignments but for extracurricular activities as well. Many people remember to do homework but will forget to put that 6pm business club meeting on their calendar.

It is crucial that you are punctual and reliable, and you don’t want to miss something because you forgot about it. I find that when I am organized this way, I feel less stressed about the week because I know how to plan my time and can tell how long it will take me to complete specific assignments.

Stay up to date with your internship and interview deadlines.

In the finance world, the recruitment season has been gradually moving up and now applications are typically due at the end of September, with interviews taking place in November. You must not only manage your new classes, move into a new apartment, and begin extracurricular activities again, but you must also keep track of summer internship deadlines. This requires you to be diligent in knowing all the deadlines.

It would be a good idea to create an Excel or Google spreadsheet with a list of all the internships and programs you are wanting to apply for, including their application timeline. This would include their application deadline as well as when interviews are for the internship.

You can prioritize which internships to apply to first, and which ones can wait, by adding this information to your calendar. Even if you have the spreadsheet, you want to make sure you remember to apply by adding it to your reminders.

Join one Hackathon Friday every month.

Hackathons have become increasingly popular among not just tech companies, but also pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis. In the past, these competitions have revolved around topics such as digital healthcare solutions for individual countries; best practices for ending Europe’s cancer crisis; and solving data- science challenges in Slovenia.

A hackathon in your own company can be a way to get everyone in the organization thinking about a pressing issue and trying to come up with multiple solutions. By bringing in people from outside the usual suspects of those who would be responsible for implementing any changes, you can get a wider variety of perspectives and ideas.

We are hiring online tutors for the academic year.

While some students find the adjustment back to school to be easy, others may find themselves struggling to keep up. If you find yourself in the latter category, it may be helpful to hire an online tutor.  Not only will a tutor help you to better understand the material, but they can also help you develop better study habits.  When searching for a tutor, it is important to find someone who is knowledgeable in the subject area and who is able to explain the material in a way that you will be able to understand.

Stick to your deadlines.

If you forget a deadline at the last minute, it will add more stress to your life. You cannot do your best work when you are panicking and it will be difficult to focus. Additionally, if you try to add something unexpected to your schedule, it will throw off the rest of your week.

The consequences of an all-nighter go beyond the following day. It can take a while to catch up on lost sleep and be productive again. Don’t let deadlines rob you of your productivity. A better method would be to keep track of all your assignment due dates in your Assignment Log. With a complete list of deadlines for every subject, you can plan ahead and work on assignments bit by bit.

Manage your stress levels.

Stress is often hard to control and can take a toll on your physical and mental well-being.

Stress management comes in many forms, so it’s crucial to find the methods that work best for you and your lifestyle.
