Incidentally, the bi-annual conference of Chandpur district BNP was held last Saturday. Abul Khair Bhuiyan, advisor to the party chairperson, was the chief guest at the conference held at Nanupur Government Primary School ground in Chandpur Sadar upazila.
Several other central leaders were also present. But ignoring the party’s decision, former president and candidate for the same post Mominul Haque held a counter conference. He held the rally in Sendra area of Hajiganj upazila, his village home. Although no central leaders were present, some leaders and activists were present.
In such a situation, the incident came to the notice of the high command of the party. On Sunday, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi wrote a letter to Engineer Mominul Haque seeking necessary explanation. In it, he mentioned that instead of cooperating with the bi-annual conference, Engineer Mominul Haque held a press conference ignoring the party’s decision. This amounts to serious misconduct. Why action will not be taken against him for violating party discipline in such a situation. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi gave him three days to give the necessary explanation.
Meanwhile, a call was made to Engineer Mominul Haque’s mobile phone to confirm the matter, but it was found to be off. On the other hand, the biennial conference has confirmed that the Center has sent a letter to Engineer Mominul Haque, Election Commissioner Advocate Shamsul Haque.
Earlier, the bi-annual conference of Chandpur district BNP was held. The conference was held in two phases last Saturday at Nanupur Government Primary School ground in Sadar upazila. The chief guest was Abul Khair Bhuiyan, advisor to the BNP chairperson. The convener of the district committee Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik presided over the function and among the guests were former MP Rasheda Begum Hira, Comilla divisional organizing secretary Mostaq Mia, co-organizing secretary Saidul Haque Saeed and others.
In the second phase of the bi-annual conference, councilors of 15 units participated in the election for the posts of president and general secretary. Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik and General Secretary Advocate Salimullah Selim were elected president with the highest number of votes in the secret ballot. A total of seven candidates took part in these two posts. More than a thousand councilors out of 1515 voted by secret ballot. Of these, three are presidents and four are general secretaries.
Meanwhile, a large number of police were deployed around the biennial conference held at Nanupur Government Primary School ground as the district town did not get permission. After a long period, the biennial conference of Chandpur district BNP was held.
