You have gone through pregnancy, labor, delivery and now you’re ready to begin life with your new one. Once home, you may feel like you have no idea what you’re doing. To help you deal as first time parents we’ll help you go through the most nervous moments so that you feel confident and can easily care for the newborn in no time. Here are some baby products that are mandatory:

1. Baby clothes

They are fun to show but don’t get caught between what’s cute and what’s comfortable and easy. Look for soft, durable clothing that can also withhold frequent washings. Dress your baby properly for the weather. Look for clothing that has snaps or zips all the way down the front which makes changing diapers easy. Look for stretchy fabrics and are not tight around the baby’s arms, legs or necks. You should avoid dressing your child in bulky clothing. Baby cloth sizes are usually sorted by: newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. Look for clothes that also list height and weight guidelines to help you find the best fit. Some babies can go direct to 3 months and may not need newborn sizes, but it may be hard to predict in advance.

2. Sleep time for babies

It is perhaps the most pressing concern and is an important area of baby safety as well. Most of these deaths may occur due to sudden infant death syndrome  and thereby it is absolutely essential that your baby is put to sleep in a safe environment. For safe sleep you will need the following:

-A reliable Crib and crib mattress to move your baby in

-Wearable blankets which are fleece or cotton sleepsacks to help keep your baby warm at night. Some wearable blankets are also designed for swaddling with flaps that fold your baby’s arms and secure them with a velcro. Just make sure to avoid any weighted sleep sacks.

-Baby swaddles as newborns love to be swaddled and having a few baby swaddles made for this purpose can make your life much easier. Some swaddle blankets can perform double duty covering your baby in the stroller. Make sure the hips are loose and that the swaddle is discontinued when they show signs they are ready to roll around.

3. Diapering the baby

Diapering occupies a significant portion of your day. Infants use up to 12 diapers a day while toddlers average 8 diapers per day. For efficient diaper changing you’ll need the following:

-Diapers: whether you use cloth, disposable or both, your baby will probably need to go through 10 to 12 diapers per day first, so you can plan accordingly with a pile of the best diapers for your family. In case you use disposables, you might want to start with small packs of different kinds in case certain types irritate your baby’s soft skin.

-Diaper pail: A reliable diaper pail will help you keep your house from smelling. Some brands may work both for cloth or disposable diapers.

-Baby wipes: They are made of cotton, polyester, cotton, wood, bamboo or rayon filers and are intended for one time use. They are also sold in packages with dispenses to make using it more convenient.

-Diaper rash cream: You also would want a good diaper rash cream on hand, either to prevent diaper rash or to handle it when it occurs.

-A changing table or pad: You’ll be changing a lot of diapers and a changing table or pad can make it a lot more comfortable.

4. Baby gear

You may at times need to take your baby with you on outings, whether it’s a baby carrier, a stroller or an infant car seat. Here’s what you need to take care of your baby:

-Car seat: A safe car seat is not mandatory, but you can choose from an infant car seat or a convertible car seat for your little one.

-Baby carrier: Wearing your baby carrier or wrap carrier means your little one gets snuggle close to you and you’ll have free hands to do everything else.

-Stroller: You’ll need an easy way to take your baby out and about. Do you want a great everyday stroller? A lightweight stroller that folds up compactly? A double stroller or maybe a jogging stroller for long walks with your baby? Choosing the right stroller can make your life easier. Just make sure your newborn meets the height, weight and developmental guidelines to use the stroller you choose for your little one.

-Play yard: A folding travel crib or play yard can come in handy for all sorts of situations. Some play yards come with a built-in diaper changing table, a removable bassinet, storage space and other improvements.

-Rocking chair: A comfortable rocking chair where you soothe your baby comes in handy all the night walking and feeding your baby’s initial year.

5. Breastfeeding

To keep your baby well fed, you’ll need the following:

-Support pillow: They are also known as nursing pillows which are specially designed to support your little one while you’re nursing or bottle feeding and they can help you avoid straining the shoulders or neck. The nursing pillows are conventional and better at keeping your little one in position.

-Nursing bras: Don’t try to make do with your regular bras. Your breasts have changed now so you’ll need a different fit to be comfortable. And nursing bras allow your baby easy access at feeding time.

-Nipple cream: They can be used to relieve sore nipples.

-Breast pump: You may want to pump breast milk to feed the baby. These pumps can be simple as a basic manual breast pump or as efficient as a double electric pump.

-Bottles: Newborns usually start with baby bottles, you need regular milk as your child begins to drink more. You’ll need as many nipples as the bottles.

6. Bathing

A good baby bathtub will make bathing your baby much easier and is designed to grow with your baby from newborn to age one. Also look for no-tears baby wash and shampoo formulas that are easier for your baby’s skin and eyes.
