The health safety agency said the man identified as Monkey Pox had recently traveled to Nigeria. According to the agency, he was infected with the virus from there. News BBC Online.

The man is being treated by an infectious disease specialist at a hospital in London’s National Health Service (NHS) Trust.

Monkey pox is a rare virus, according to the NHS in the United Kingdom. However, most people infected with the virus recover within a few weeks.

As part of a precautionary measure, health experts are collecting information and advising people who have come in contact with the infected person, the UK agency said on Saturday.

The virus was first detected in the UK in 2016. The country’s health agency has since confirmed that the virus has been detected only a few times.

Early symptoms in people with monkey pox include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen skin, chills and fatigue, the NHS said.
