For the people of Keraniganj, it is a day full of horrible memories.

In the early hours of the day, various programs were started by paying homage to the martyrs with flowers at the memorial of the local Manu Bepari’s Dhal area.

Locals claim that the list of martyrs of the liberation war has been prepared after the country became independent. But even after 50 years of independence, no government or social organization has listed the people of Keraniganj who have been martyred by the Pakistani aggressors. The locals and the families of the martyrs have demanded the government to observe this day in Keraniganj with state dignity.

In this regard, Keraniganj Upazila Chairman Shahin Ahmed said, on the occasion of the day, the Upazila Parishad will pay homage to Jinjira Manu Bepari in the early morning with flowers at the memorial in Dhal area. Later, a discussion meeting, milad mahfil and kangali banquet will be organized at the Upazila Parishad auditorium and Upazila Awami League office. Besides, prayers for martyrs have been organized in the mosques and madrasas of the upazila.
