Ukraine claims to have sunk another Russian warship The Ukrainian government has claimed that a Russian warship in the Black Sea near the port of Odessa was destroyed by a drone strike. Russia has said it retaliated by launching a missile attack on the port of Odessa on Saturday.

According to a report in the British media The Guardian, the Russian warship Moscow sank in a fire in the Black Sea south of the port of Odessa last month. Russia then claimed that the warship caught fire due to a mechanical fault. The fire caused the ammunition in the ship to explode. One week after Moscow sank, the Russian Defense Ministry said a sailor had been killed. Another 28 sailors went missing. The remaining 398 sailors have been rescued. All sailors were evacuated to nearby Russian ships in the Black Sea.

Despite Ukraine’s claims, Moscow sank after being hit by their Neptune missile attack. One month after the incident, another Russian warship was reported to have sunk.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has claimed responsibility for the destruction of a new Russian warship, using a barracks drone to attack a Russian warship stranded on Snake Island in the Black Sea. The ministry posted a video footage of the ship catching fire on Twitter.

The Ukrainian ministry said in a tweet that a fleet of Russian warships deployed in the Black Sea would exercise on the seabed near Snake Island tomorrow (May 9) to mark Victory Day.

May 9 is World War II victory day for the Soviet Union (now Russia). On this day in 1945, Hitler’s Nazi forces were defeated. Russia has been remembering the day ever since.

The US news agency AP has released a satellite image of the attack on a Russian warship. Last Friday, Ukraine launched a drone strike targeting a Russian installation on Snake Island. Intense black smoke was seen flying from there.

The published photo shows the presence of a Russian Navy Serna-class landing craft on the north coast of Snake Island. The Ukrainian army has also released a video. There, Ukrainian drones were seen attacking the ship. Soon after, the ship was engulfed in smoke.
