You might think that the NI stands for net income, but it doesn’t. NI has two meanings. It stands for net income and NI contributions. NI contributions stand for the contributions towards the employees’ health and retirement benefits. These are provided by your employer. If you are paid in monthly salary, you will receive one paycheque for the entire month. If you are paid bi-weekly, you will receive two paychecks for each week. What is NIA? NI is National Insurance and A is additional contribution. When you get paid in a fortnight, it will be paid on a Friday and your employer will pay the NI on that date.

Your employer will also pay your NI on Saturday (weekend) and then you can file the claims on Sunday (weekend) for that week.

NI will be deducted for any illness or accident of the employee or a family member. The NI contribution amount will also be deducted if your family member dies, but the deceased cannot have a pension. The death of an employee will give the family members pension.

In case of the death of the person living abroad, his/her contribution amount will be given to the next of the kin. For example, if a person died and he has a wife and daughter, the contribution amount of this deceased will be given to his wife and her daughter.
