State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said that there is no plan to increase the age of entry into government service. He said this in response to a question in the National Assembly on Tuesday. The state minister also explained the reason. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the question and answer session.

Responding to a question from Habibe Millat, MP of the ruling party, the state minister for public administration said, “In the past, there were large sessions in various educational institutions, including universities, but now there are no significant sessions.

For this reason, students usually get SSC in 18 years, HSC in 18 years and post graduate degree in 23-24 years. The maximum age limit for general candidates to enter the job is 30 years, so even after obtaining a master’s degree, they have at least six to seven years to apply for the job. In addition, if a candidate applies for a job within the age limit of 30 years, even if it takes one to two years to complete the recruitment process, it is not counted.

The state minister said the number of vacancies has come down naturally as the retirement age has been raised from 58 to 59 recently.

In this context, if the age limit for entry into the job is increased, the number of job seekers for different positions will increase at a huge rate. This can lead to more competition in recruitment. This can lead to frustration among candidates under the age of 30, even if they have the opportunity to apply for the job.
