10 best Xiaomi smartphones

Born eleven years ago, Xiaomi has come a long way since its beginnings as a small unknown manufacturer very inspired by Apple. The brand has managed to build a separate identity and has since diversified considerably, with smartphones as the focal point of its catalog. In France as in the world, it overtook Samsung to take its place as number 1!

You can now find Xiaomi products everywhere, from scooters around the corner to the smart bulb in the ceiling light. In addition, they are now well distributed in France and it is no longer necessary to go through the import box: the brand has several dedicated stores.

The brand’s DNA has not changed, however, a Xiaomi smartphone focuses above all on finding the right value for money, with particular attention paid to the software. The MIUI interface is in its thirteenth version and offers one of the strongest biases in the Android universe. It won’t please everyone, but the care that goes into it is undeniable.

Among the weaknesses of the brand, we note its almost pathological tendency to release dozens of references each year, with names, characteristics and prices very close to each other. It’s simple: even we who follow their news on a daily basis sometimes have trouble finding our way…

That’s why we’ve sorted for you and selected the best Xiaomi phones. If you are interested in the best smartphones, regardless of brand, read our dedicated guide.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

Who says new year, says new flagship for Xiaomi. With this 12 Pro, the Chinese manufacturer affirms its status as a market juggernaut with a design worthy of its prestige. The matte texture brings cachet to a phone with reasonable dimensions.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro incorporates a 6.73-inch OLED screen offering a definition in WQHD + or 3200 x 1440 px. The refresh is able to climb up to 120 Hz but above all to adapt to your consumption. In terms of performance, the interface offers superb brightness. It’s a great screen.

The internal power is provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and 12 GB of RAM memory. Qualcomm’s latest processor provides good performance in game even if some settings are to be taken into account. The general experience is completed by MIUI 13 which is of good quality even if the software is not impeccable.

In the autonomy part, the smartphone has a 4600 mAh battery and the capacity to last a full day. Above all, it has a 120 W fast charge, capable of putting it to 100% in half an hour. On the rear side, there are three 50-megapixel sensors that offer good shots.

In short, Xiaomi’s new flagship ticks all the boxes to succeed an already excellent Mi 11. The Xiaomi 12 Pro test written by Titouan will confirm all the qualities of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi 11i

After a Mi 11 that broke the house, Xiaomi is trying to decline its winning recipe by making it more accessible with this Mi 11i. First major change: the Mi 11i is content with a simple, flat screen. If the latter remains of very good quality (it is even brighter), it goes to a Full HD + definition. Fortunately, OLED and adaptive 120 Hz remain on the menu.

The latest addition to the very large Xiaomi family, the 11T Pro arrives with a simple promise: high-end performance at a contained price. The design of the device could not be more classic and the machine is rather comfortable to use. However, it will be criticized for a photo module which makes it particularly wobbly when laid flat.

The screen is of quality since we are in the presence of an OLED FHD + panel at 120 Hz adaptive. We noted a good luminosity which makes the screen easily readable even in direct sunlight. Surprisingly, however, the fingerprint sensor is not under the screen, but installed under a button on the edge. A bit of a shame considering its price.

The processor is the now classic Snapdragon 888, which, coupled with 8 GB of RAM, ensures solid performance in all situations. But it is especially on the battery side that the 11T Pro stands out. If its autonomy of a good day is very classic, it benefits from a ridiculously fast 120 W charger. It fills up in just 15 minutes!

For the photo the results are mixed. If the main sensor is very correct, the ultra wide-angle is struggling, with a clear lack of brightness and contrast. Above all, low-light performance is poor. However, we must salute the quality of the macro mode.

We conclude this overview with a few words on the software component, which is a bit disappointing due to ubiquitous bloatware and too present bugs. This is all the more unfortunate since MIUI 12.5 is generally a very pleasant OS to use.

Xiaomi delivers here a quality smartphone, but which suffers from some software and photo weaknesses. It also struggles to distinguish itself from a Mi 11 sold a little cheaper and more balanced.

The catalog of the Redmi range is expanding with several variations, including the one we present to you. The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G makes some slight adjustments compared to the only “Pro” version. This phone meets a few use cases, especially if you use it to play mobile games.

This starts with a fairly high-performance technical sheet, built around a MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor and 6 GB of RAM. It will do very well in game. It also incorporates a 4500 mAh battery capable of lasting a day, and its 120 W fast charge is able to put it back on its feet in 30 minutes.

Among the elements that make good gaming smartphones, you will be entitled to a beautiful touch screen, a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel. It is capable of offering a definition in Full HD +. The refresh rate at 120 Hz is also in the game, for more fluidity to the eye. The MIUI 12.5 software offers quality daily use even if the user experience remains perfectible. The camera has, among other things, a wide angle of 108 megapixels.
