Six migrants have died after a boat capsized off the coast of Libya in the Mediterranean. 29 passengers of the boat are missing in this incident. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement on Saturday. Khabar Al-Jazeera

The IOM said the sinking took place off the coast of the western Libyan city of Sabratha. People from Africa use this terrifying Mediterranean route to get to Europe.

The agency said the bodies of six people have been recovered so far, but it is believed that the remaining 29 passengers were also buried in the incident. The boat is believed to have sunk on Friday. It was not immediately clear why or how the boat sank.

In a tweet, the IOM said there was “no chance” of seeing one such death after another in the Mediterranean. People have to pay the price for their negligence.

Libya is one of the illegal routes to Europe by sea from Asia or Africa. Immigrant asylum seekers are often reported to have drowned off the coast of the country.

Between January and April of this year, 47 people were killed in a boat sinking off the coast of Libya in the Mediterranean. In the last one week, 53 people have lost their lives.
