6 killed, 9 rescued in Madhya Pradesh fire

A huge fire broke out in a two-storey house in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Seven people were killed in the blaze late Friday night. 11 people were injured.

Two women were killed in the blaze. Nine people have been rescued so far. Five of them are hospitalized. According to local sources, a house in Swarnabagh Colony in Indore had a short circuit in the main electric supply system around 3:10 pm local time.

Everyone was fast asleep during the fire. The short-circuit fire engulfed other vehicles, including motorcycles. Then the fire quickly spread to the whole house. Police have arrested the owner of the house in the incident. A death case has been filed against him for negligence. Because, there was no fire extinguisher or fire protection system in that house. The house had one flat on each of the two floors. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed grief over the death in the fire.

In a tweet, the Madhya Pradesh chief minister wrote, “I pray to God to place the departed souls at his feet, give their family members the strength to endure this ordeal, and heal the wounded quickly.”

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the relatives of those killed in the fire in Indore.

Regarding the blaze, the Indore police commissioner said, “Seven people have been killed and officials at the scene have so far rescued nine.”

According to fire service sources, the fire may have started due to a short circuit. It took three hours to bring the fire under control. The incident is under investigation. It is learned that all the occupants of the building were tenants.

Witnesses said they heard the sound around 3 pm. He went outside and saw that there was a fire. Then they tried to put out the fire with a bucket.

Meanwhile, the building was sealed off after seven people died in the blaze. A team from the forensic department reached the spot in the morning for investigation. Police are investigating how the fire started. Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra and MLA Mahendra Hardia reached the spot after receiving the news of the incident.
