Delhi’s Patiala House Court has issued summons against Rujira Banerjee in the notorious coal smuggling case in West Bengal. The court issued the summons on Saturday. According to the summons, Rujira will have to appear in court on August 20. Rujira is the son of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s brother and wife of MP Abhishek Banerjee.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of India had issued several notices to Rujira for questioning in the coal scandal. The court issued summons against Rujira for ignoring the notice.

Regarding the disregard of the ED notice, Rujira said, why not call for questioning at the ED office in Kolkata instead of Delhi? Rujira then filed a case in the Delhi High Court seeking to appear at the ED office in Kolkata instead of Delhi. However, the High Court did not intervene in the ED’s order.

Rujira’s husband Abhishek also got notice in the same case. He was interrogated for six hours on April 20 at the ED office in Delhi.

Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is angry over the involvement of party leaders and activists in the coal scandal. Earlier, he had warned that other leaders of the party, including Abhishek and Rujira, could not be suppressed in order to satisfy their political interests. They will get the right answer. Mamata further said that sometimes Abhishek, sometimes his wife is being summoned to Delhi on ‘false allegations’. Even his friends are being called. This is unacceptable.

They are accused of smuggling Rs 1,323 crore abroad. There are allegations that the money was deposited in banks in London and Bangkok. And behind this cycle is a well-known coal mafia of the state. He is also a top leader of the Youth Trinamool Congress. Now he has fled the country and is hiding abroad.

Allegations of illegal extraction of coal from various coal mines in West Bengal have been going on for a long time. There are allegations that many in the state’s ruling party are involved in selling illegally mined coal. They smuggled the money they got from selling coal abroad. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of India is investigating the matter. Since then, the incident has been known as the ‘coal scandal’.
