With metal roofs, one first thinks of large sheet parts in trapezoidal shape or standing seam. But in the meantime, even a small-scale look can be achieved: with roof tiles in the form of classic roof tiles.
The advantage of such steel or aluminum roof tiles over conventional clay or concrete products is, above all, the very low weight of the metal cladding. The sheets, which are usually only 0.5 mm thick, weigh about 5 kg per square meter on the roof truss.

The low weight is especially an advantage when existing roofs have to be renovated with overhead insulation to improve energy efficiency. The old roof trusses are often not strong enough to support thick insulation layers in addition to the roof covering. They would therefore have to be extensively strengthened or completely renewed. This can often be avoided with roof tiles made of steel – or the even lighter aluminum. The extra weight of the insulation material is compensated by the light roof covering. The building owner can enjoy an insulated roof with a classic roof tile look – plain metal. It is even easier if the existing building to be renovated has an old, lightweight roof covering – for example, bitumen or fiber cement.

Roof-to-roof installation saves time and money because the old roofing material does not have to be removed and disposed of. Material properties
A metal roof sheet is not only light, but also very durable. This is especially true for the metal aluminum, which does not rust. The steel profiles are also galvanized and therefore resistant to corrosion. In any case, the metal core never ends up on the roof unprotected. Whether steel or aluminium, the tiles are always protected by a multi-layer surface finish (see drawing). The outer layer is usually made of weather-resistant polyester plastic and is available in a wide variety of colors – both matte and glossy. The surface is usually very smooth. This has the advantage that dirt, but also moss and lichens hardly find a hold on the metal roof tiles.
