Rijeka is a gorgeous seaside city located on the Adriatic Sea. It’s the fourth largest city in Croatia, but has a small-town feel.

If you love beaches and water parks, then Rijeka is the place to go. Rijeka’s beach is called Plitvica and it’s a popular spot for tourists to visit.

If you’re visiting Rijeka, then you’ll want to check out some of the best things to do in Rijeka.

I’ve personally visited Rijeka several times and I’ve been able to find some cool activities for you to enjoy!

Make a Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Trsat

A Pilgrimage is a journey of faith to a sacred site. It’s a tradition practiced by many people all over the world, and it’s one that I recommend you try.

There are many different reasons why you should try a Pilgrimage. Some of them include:

Helping you gain a deeper connection with God.

Reducing stress.

Relieving depression.

Enhancing spiritual growth.

If you’re looking for a good Pilgrimage destination, then I recommend you visit Our Lady of Trsat.

Our Lady of Trsat is a Roman Catholic church that’s dedicated to St. Anthony. It’s located in Rijeka, Croatia, and it’s the most popular Pilgrimage in Croatia.

The story of Our Lady of Trsat is fascinating. In 14th-century, the town of Trsat became the largest port of the Kingdom of Bosnia. Because of this, the town was very wealthy.

However, in 1526, a plague broke out, and it killed a large number of people. As a result, the city fell into ruin and the economy declined.

The city eventually regained its former glory. However, a new wave of religious fervor swept through the city, and a shrine to the Virgin Mary was erected in the town center.

Trsat Castle

Trsat Castle is a magnificent medieval castle located in Rijeka. Built in the 15th century, it’s now a public park.

Visitors can hike up the hill and walk around the castle grounds. There are some great views from the top, and visitors can also climb the tower and check out the panorama.

The views from the top are especially worth it because the castle is surrounded by a large lake. This is a great spot for a picnic.

Climb the Petar Druzic Stairway

Rijeka is home to a famous stairway called the Petar Druzic Stairway. It’s a part of a complex called the Riječka katedra or the Rijeka Cathedral.

The staircase is named after Petar Druzic, a renowned Croatian architect. The complex consists of a number of buildings and structures, including a library, concert hall, restaurant, and museum.

The staircase is approximately 1,500 steps long and is the longest staircase in Europe. It’s certainly worth the climb.

City Tower

Located in Rijeka, the City Tower is the tallest building in Rijeka. It’s a major tourist attraction and has beautiful views of the surrounding area.

The tallest building in Rijeka is definitely worth checking out.

Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc

Rijeka has a vibrant nightlife scene, with lots of places to eat and drink. My favorite is probably the Crobar, where you can find live music and dance every night of the week.

You can also visit the Croatian National Theatre, which is located on the main square.

It’s not only a great way to see the latest productions, but it’s also a great place to see Rijeka’s architecture.

The building was designed by Croatian architect Josip Vancaš and it’s a beautiful example of modernist architecture. It has been listed as a protected monument.

Torpedo Factory

The Torpedo Factory is a museum that showcases modern weaponry from WWII. The museum is located in Rijeka, Croatia and it’s open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The museum is divided into several sections. The main building houses the “Arms Room” and the “Explosives Room.”

The “Arms Room” houses WWII weapons that were used by Germany, the Soviet Union, and the United States.

The “Explosives Room” houses explosives used by the United States and Russia.

The “Art of War” exhibition is also located at the Torpedo Factory. The exhibition is located in the “Weapons Room” and it’s housed in a former US Army armory.

The exhibition features paintings and sculptures that depict warfare and the influence of war on humanity.

Take a Drive to Kastav

Kastav is the second-largest city in Croatia, and it’s a great place to visit for an adrenaline rush.

Kastav is famous for being one of the biggest cities in Croatia that doesn’t have a castle. This is because it’s surrounded by mountains, and its history has a strong connection to the surrounding mountains.

If you’re up for a little adventure, then you’ll want to take a day trip to Kastav.

There are many ways to get here, but you can take a bus from Rijeka. There are also trains that connect Rijeka and Zagreb.
