We are dedicated to offering the best possible service to make international travel easier. To alleviate travel difficulties caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and commercial airlines are collaborating to make it easier for Americans to return from overseas directly to the United States using certain expired passports. You should keep a canceled or expired passport with your new passport for at least two years; this may come in handy while leaving Pakistan and arriving at a foreign destination. If a precaution, please maintain your CNIC (computerized ID card) because it may, as and when required, assist in confirming the particulars mentioned in the passport; otherwise, the airline will board you on an expired NADRA Card Renewal, even if your final destination is your own home country. Manually Extended Pakistani Passports are no longer valid for international travel and may only be used to enter the country.

Passport Travel Recommendations:

  • In the situation that your passport is lost or damaged in any way that causes you to be worried, you should report it to the nearest Passport Office in Pakistan or the Pakistan Office if you are traveling outside of Pakistan.
  • If you have had a new passport issued in response to a report of a lost or damaged passport, and the reported passport is re-found, it is mandatory under Pakistani law that you immediately contact the nearest office or mission and cancel the old one, as your new passport is valid under Pakistani law.
  • It is a serious felony to possess any passport that was not properly issued to the individual or whose justification for possession is unacceptable to the authorities.
  • If a kid under the age of 12 is traveling without his or her parents, a power of attorney from the child’s legal guardian is necessary. Otherwise, they will go as an UNACCOMPANIED MINOR.

Solution:

Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is granted to Pakistani nationals for travel return to Pakistan only in severe emergency situations where their Pakistani passport is unavailable OR they are ineligible for the issuing of a new passport/renewal of passport. For the Emergency Travel Document to be issued, the applicant must provide proof of a true emergency.

Requirements for Emergency Travel Document Application:

For the Emergency Travel Document application to be processed, the applicant must present the following documents:

  • Evidence of an emergency (for example serious illness or death of immediate family member)
  • Application form, duly completed and signed
  • Four current passport-size pictures with a white background
  • Original Expired Pakistani Passport, together with a photocopy
  • In the event that a Pakistani passport is lost, a copy of the lost passport, together with a police report proving the loss of the passport, must be submitted.
  • Booking an airline ticket, ideally with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
  • a valid or expired NADRA Card and a photocopy of it
  • If the applicant is under the age of 18, both parents must accompany the application, together with their original identity documents and the minor applicant’s complete birth certificate.
