What is the clitoral hood?
The clitoris, that great ally of women and, until relatively recently, so unknown, is by definition the organ of sexual pleasure in women . Anatomically it is composed of several parts

Inside there are other components such as the corpora cavernosa and the body of the clitoris that also have a role in obtaining pleasure.
What problems can there be in the clitoral hood?
There are anatomical alterations in the clitoral hood that can cause both aesthetic and functional problems and that can be corrected with surgery.
Sometimes the clitoris is of normal size, but the hood (the skin that surrounds it) is very prominent, that is, it covers it too much, preventing it from being exposed during sexual intercourse. This may happen forever or it may be that changes are noticed after childbirth or with age.
It is important to clarify that the sexual response is something very complex and that, therefore, it is impossible that it only depends on the size of the clitoral hood. In other words, there are women who, with a very large and redundant clitoral hood, have completely pleasurable sexual relations and others who, with a small hood, cannot reach orgasm. Sexuality is much more than that.
What is also true is that there are women who can benefit from clitoral hood reduction surgery when it is very large, both aesthetically and functionally.

What is clitoral hood reduction surgery?
Clitoral hood reduction surgery is a surgery that is usually performed in association with labia minora reduction labiaplasty . In some selected cases it can be done in isolation, but it is not the most frequent.
It consists of removing the excess skin without affecting the innervation (that is, the nerves) that reach the clitoris.
The risk of surgery, in addition to the usual risks of any surgical intervention, is that we remove too much skin and the glans of the clitoris is too exposed.
