The Evening Wiki is a brand of Transparency, and they cover Dagenham news, Barking news, Havering news, and Redbridge news primarily, but also the whole of London. Their long-term aim is to be the largest press corporation situated within these boroughs.
The local area welcomes the media conglomerate, particularly in regard to Dagenham news as the area is greatly underrepresented in the press. It is time Dagenham residents and businesses have their voices heard.
They have already made great strides in the little time they’ve been operational, widely covering the abuse exerted by London’s Joseph Mbogo and London’s Victor Adegboye.
Their umbrella company, Transparency, call themselves ‘rights reformers and revolutionaries’, and they are passionate about advocating for the protection of our civil liberties. I was lucky to have a sit-down with the CEO, Jabari Cubane, and he has various plans to revolutionise the rights of people on probation.
People on probation are being unlawfully recalled to prison throughout London, and this is being achieved through violations of probationer’s human rights, where they are ‘breached’ for making records of probation meetings.
This allows probation officers to engage in gross misconduct and make false or erroneous allegations against a probationer, while the probationer has no means to defend themselves or challenge the allegation
They will launch a national campaign throughout England to raise awareness of this injustice and advocate for legislative change, as well as cultural change throughout the National Probation Service. There is currently a toxic culture amongst practioners where they are so disillusioned with the notion of rehabilitation that they operate from the assumption that recall will occur.
We are excited to see what comes with The Evening Wiki in 2023, particularly as they are already making waves on social media.
