During the summer, electric scooters are one of the most eco-friendly and convenient modes of transportation. For our regular trips, the scorching weather necessitates an easy-to-use solution. In addition to being more enjoyable, being able to ride in the open-air turns electric scooters into efficient forms of transport. Electric scooters shine during the summer months when they can be used for transportation and entertainment.
With a long-range electric scooter, you can effortlessly navigate traffic and arrive at your destination with the least disruption. Its convenience also lets you fold it when not in use, putting it somewhere secure while it charges. With that said, we can presume that owning a long-range electric scooter has several advantages.
While electric scooters may be fun to ride, it’s essential to remember that this is still a vehicle. Therefore, regular maintenance and adequate care are required for an electric scooter. Here are some dos and don’ts for taking care of your Varla electric scooter in the summer.
Consider the following things when buying an electric scooter during the summer:
- Make sure the electric scooter doesn’t overheat easily
- Make sure the operating temperature is high
- The electric scooter shouldn’t have battery or overheating issues
- The electric scooter should have a smart battery management system that stops overheating while charging during the summer.
- The screen should be visible when you are out on the sunny days
Battery Management
An electric scooter’s battery is a critical component that must be properly cared for and maintained. Because of this, its warranty duration is usually shorter than the scooter.
Dos
- Always have a minimum of 10 percent charge on your electric scooter.
- The life of a battery can be extended if it is charged regularly. After a short trip, you can immediately begin charging your electric scooter.
- After a lengthy ride, let the battery cool down for around 30 minutes before recharging it. Don’t leave your electric scooter running for a few hours with a low battery. Charge it right away.
- The original charger is the only one you should use.
- Make sure the battery is always dry.
Don’ts
- Leaving your electric scooter’s battery completely depleted.
- Leaving your electric scooter uncharged for an extended length of time.
- Leaving your electric scooter out in harsh weather conditions
- Unattended charging/overcharging of your electric scooter
Don’t push your scooter’s performance too much
If the weather is sweltering, but you still decide to ride, at the very least, don’t exceed the limits of your motor scooter.
When used in sweltering conditions, the motor, battery, and other electronics and the brakes and tires will have to work harder, increasing the likelihood of a malfunction and shortening their lifespan.
Limiting the time spent ascending and avoiding the sharpest slopes, avoiding riding at top speed for lengthy periods, entirely exhausting the battery, and repeatedly slamming the brakes.
Don’t leave your scooter under the sun for too long
While leaving your electric scooter with seat outside for lengthy periods is typically not ideal, it’s sometimes the only visible option.
If you do so on a very hot or sunny day, you’re not doing your scooter any favors. Of course, it won’t melt in a few minutes in the sun, but even an hour or two can overheat or harm the battery or other electronics, damage the paint, or even remove the adhesive between the rubber mat and the deck.
Decrease the tire pressure by around 2-3 PSI
Due to the increase in temperature, the air pressure in pneumatic tires rises. This is very important when riding for extended periods of time in hot conditions.
Always ride your long-range electric scooter at its manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure to avoid a flat tire, regardless of how low or high it is (usually indicated either in the user manual or on the tire itself).
When it’s sweltering outside (32°C / 90°F or more), it is a good idea to deflate your tires by roughly 2-3 PSI due to their inclination to increase their pressure due to the heat.
Usage
Dos
- Drive your electric scooter with seat only on level terrain, such as asphalt, pathways, sidewalks, and so on.
Don’ts
- Don’t use your electric scooter with seat to perform stunts
- Don’t ride your electric scooter with a passenger
Electric scooters are expected to last for many years without the need for any kind of maintenance or repair. However, just like any other piece of machinery, they are only as good as the personnel who keep them in excellent working condition. It can be exciting to ride an electric scooter so take notice of these considerations when planning to ride your electric scooter in the summer.
