Dhaka South City Corporation. More than five hundred illegal establishments and shops have been evicted in the operation.
The eviction was carried out at Hawkers Market on Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan on Sunday (May 7) under the supervision of Russell Sabrin, the corporation’s chief property officer, and led by the corporation’s property officer and executive magistrate Mohammad Muniruzzaman and executive magistrate Abdus Samad Sikder.
Regarding the campaign, Mohammad Muniruzzaman said, “At the request of the legally allotted traders at Bangabandhu Avenue Hawkers Market, Dhadsik Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has taken initiative to build a new modern and multi-storey market here.
This campaign has been conducted today to make the initiative of the mayor a success. ‘
“It’s the corporation’s market,” said Russell Sabrin, chief property officer. There are 146 legitimate allotted traders. But the number of illegal traders is more than five hundred. Legal traders as well as illegal traders were conducting their business activities in the market. We have repeatedly asked them to remove the establishments and shops occupied by those illegal traders. But illegal traders have shown reluctance to comply with the call and the operation has been launched today. ‘
Russell Sabrin, chief property officer, said the city corporation would continue to conduct such operations to ensure smooth development.
