Gas sector is being automated. The government has decided to automate the gas sector to prevent wastage and theft. Petrobangla has already submitted a report on automation to the energy department in the middle of this month. With the consent of the Department of Energy, work will begin with the appointment of a consultant.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

An official of Petrobangla said that most of the gas system losses were stolen. This theft is not going to be stopped even after various attempts. Talking about these again, those whose interests are hurt are unhappy. He said there was a lot of evidence that workers at the distribution company had been beaten while trying to disconnect illegal gas lines. On the other hand, our officials and employees are also involved in these illegal trades. But if the whole thing is taken out of human control and left in the hands of the machine, then there will be no chance of theft.

Earlier, the BPC was asked to bring the issue of fuel oil under automation, the energy department said. BPC has started working towards that goal. In some cases, BPC has introduced automation system. But those concerned think that gas automation was needed first.

After extracting gas from the mine, it is fed to the grid. Distribution from the grid is delivered to the company line. Here the distribution company again collects the bill by delivering it to the customer’s yard.

But in many cases meters are not installed in different distribution areas after taking gas from the national grid. This determines the gas consumption of the area from the size of the bill. In case of automation, the amount of gas being used can be seen sitting in one place. As a result, the theft of gas will be detected only if the amount of legitimate customers and their gas consumption is determined. In that case it will also be possible to identify invalid customers.

Secondly, the image of gas extraction, usage and bill collection will always be seen on the screen by the executive of the company. As a result, he will be able to understand how much gas is being used and how much is being billed. In this way you can understand the state of deficit. Large quantities of gas are still being used illegally in the districts around Dhaka. Titus says their system loss is not falling below three to five percent.

Petrobangla sources say the country now has a demand of 4,000 million cubic feet of gas. But now more than three thousand million cubic feet is not going to be supplied. However, if the system loss is calculated, 90 to 100 million cubic feet of gas is being stolen due to system loss. This is considered to be the biggest crisis in the gas sector.
