Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce the price of gold in the country by up to Tk 1,018 in two weeks due to falling gold prices in the world market. It will cost 8 thousand 518 rupees to make a good quality or 22 carat heavy gold ornaments.

On April 26, Bajus last reduced the price of gold by Tk 1,018. At that time the price of gold per ounce (31.10347 grams) in the world market was 1 thousand 906 dollars. Today it has decreased to 1 thousand 72 dollars.
As a result of the reduction in price, one will have to buy a heavy gold ornament of 22 carats from Wednesday at Tk 8,517. Apart from this, 21 carat 63 thousand 17 rupees, 18 carat 72 thousand 736 rupees and a lot of traditional gold ornaments will be sold at 52 thousand 198 rupees.
Till Tuesday, 22 carat gold was sold at Tk 8,062, 21 carat gold at Tk 64,173, 18 carat gold at Tk 63,569 and traditional ornaments at Tk 53,061. From Wednesday, the price of 22 and 21 carat gold will be reduced by Tk 1,018, 18 carat by 933 and traditional method of filling by Tk 75.
Meanwhile, even if the price of gold decreases, the price of silver will remain the same. The weight of 22 carat silver is 1 thousand 518 rupees. Besides, the price of 21 carat silver is being sold at 1,435 rupees and 18 carat silver at 1,225 rupees. And the price of traditional method of silver is 933 rupees.
